Rare original finish owl decoy by Herter. Glass eyes, plus horn beak.

  19"H.  Has original hooks for hanging.  Right top of head has minor chewing by animal.  $1750.

Plaster of paris pig. This chubby little

fellow measures approx. 15" long,

8" tall and 7" wide.  $295.

 

Eight hand-carved and painted birds, each is

identified and signed K. Burt on bottom.  Largest

bird is 3-3/4", smallest is 1-5/8"

Hanging spice drawers, old blue surface

over pale green.  Drawers are dovetailed

front and back.The back and front of case is

also dovetailed.  Lift-up slanted top contains

two compartments.  Back has good oxidation.

A REALLY BIG hanging cheese basket in

green paint.  Picture a big wheel of cheese

in it.  Quite an unusual shape.  These were

used to drain the whey.  The paint has been

on it for a very long time.  Excellent condition.

Shaker berry pail with green, tan, and reddish

brown bands.  The handle is attached to pail by

diamond escutcheons typical Shaker construction.

Top and bottom metal bands hold in together.

One of the things I (SC) most prize out of my own 

collection.  I have never seen another decorated

like this.  Measures 4-1/4"H x 5-1/2"diam.at

opening.  Strawberries not included.    $1450.

Blue spatterware teapot with red thistle pattern.

The bottom has a couple of hairlines but they do

not go all the way through (click on image to see

more views).  Admittedly not a rare pattern, but it

is also not as expensive as most spatterware.

Looks great on a shelf. Approx 9-3/4"W, 7-1/2"H.

Carved owl's head wall piece, finely

done, late 1800's, dark natural attic use

finish.  6-1/2"W x 7"H.  $325.

Pull toy glass-eyed horse on original platform

with iron wheels.  Horse has hide covering

with much hair missing, and it is shrinking

and separating in a few places.  Tail is real

horsehair, but there is no mane.  Bridle is all

there.  c. 1890.  Measures 3-3/4" x 10-1/4"

X 11-3/4" high including platform.  $425.

Nicely decorated dome-top box with snipe hinges.

Back of box is not painted.  Original lock. 4-5/8"H x

8-1/4"W x 4"D.      $750.

Hooked rug mounted on fabric over acid-

proof board.  Still life or theorum style of fruit in compote, soft colors.  c. 1940's.

Huge elephant doorstop. Nice gray paint. Very good condition. 11-1/2" x 10". Weighs ~ 17 lbs. This size is a bit rare. $625.

American Marble Game "QUITON", Eagle

decoration makes it special.  Early 1900's.  Click

on image to see the small tray that goes with it

to collect played  non-scoring marbles.  Makes

a unique wall-hanger. Use any marbles with it.

Yellowware Bowl with mocha seaweed decoration

in deep blue.  Decoration is on three sides, so

click on image to see the other two.  Just taken out

of personal collection. Mint condition.  11-1/4"diam x

5"H        $665.

Small Pennsylvania pierced tin heart-

shaped mold with ring for hanging. It

sits on three feet and is in perfect

condition.  It's approx 6"x 6" and 

stands 3-1/2" high.   $550.

Papier mache bunch of bananas in soft

yellow paint.  A little white showing on

tips, but generally in very good condition.

12" x 8-1/2" x 4"     $595.

Papier mache Grandpa Rabbit.  Paint and

condition are perfect exept for a few chips

on feet (can be seen in the photo).  This is

exactly like the doorstop except for size.  It

is neither a candy container nor a bank,

since there are no openings.  I believe this

to be a rare piece.  approx. 8-7/8" x 5".

Small Peaseware compote (unmarked). 

exceptional form, a little varnish missing on

underside of lip.  Good condition.  5-1/4”H,

6” diameter at widest.  See other views.

Excellent gold detailing.  Very good

period frame.  5”x6” incl. frame.

Child’s cup with several cats playing.

Earthtones with green, red, yellow

floral.  Good condition.  3”H, 3”Diam.  $330.

POCKET WATCH SAMPLER:  “Part not with a

moment but for its worth” sown by Mary

Bowden for her husband’s watch with her

own hair.  These 19th Century needlework

samplers were stitched to fit inside the

watch case.  This one was done with real

hair and is considered rare.  1-3/4” Diam.

Cup is ~3”H, 3”Diam.  Good condition. $330.

Brightly colored splint lidded Indian basket,

19th century, does not have potato stampings.

It does have on its bottom a pair of 12” long

wooden runners with feet at each end.  Overall

In good condition.  3-1/2”H, 3-3/4” diameter.  $695

Yellowware mug with green leaves forming

flowers.  This is a very unusual and rare decoration.

Mug is 3-3/8” H, 4” diam.  Small chip on inside of lip.

Double sided framed silhouettes.  Woman has gold high-lighting, young man on reverse side could be her son (noses show a family resemblance).  Writing on bottom left says Arthur ---? Black frame.  5-1/8”x4” incl. frame.  $450.

Game: CHIROMAGICA by McLoughlin Bros., N.Y., in

A magnificant huge one-piece turned bowl with
a shaped lip.  It's the entire diameter of a large tree
trunk showing growth rings in the bottom.  The wood
is beautiful although we admit to not knowing what
kind  it is or its source.  Size is 15" diam, 9-1/2"H.
$950.

Nantucket lightship basket, by Mitchell Ray, good
condition, 14-1/2"x11-1/2" oval x 7"H.  $2900.

Early 1900's.  Geometric curved border, soft

paint.  Canted sides with interesting cutout

handles.  Initials are those of the owner.

Blue wallpapered hat box, early 1800's.

Top has people, horse, trees, and

buildings.  Front and back has garden

and statues.  Similar to those seen in

red/brown finish.  Dovetailed top and

bottom, slide front.  Note curvature of
